Abstract

This article aims to elaborate Martin Heidegger’s concept of In-der-Welt-sein (being-in-the-world) within his phenomenological ontology in order to explain the structure of human existence as Dasein amid contemporary relational crises. This study employs a qualitative library-research approach. Data were collected through textual readings of Heidegger’s primary works and relevant philosophical literature, and were subsequently analyzed using a philosophical-interpretive method with a phenomenological-ontological orientation and limited comparison with Aristotle, René Descartes, Max Scheler, and Martin Buber. The findings reveal three main points. First, Heidegger shifts the understanding of the human being from a rational subject to Dasein as a mode of being. Second, Dasein can only be fully understood within the horizon of the question of Being (Seinsfrage). Third, In-der-Welt-sein demonstrates that human existence is ontologically relational, involved, being-with (Mitsein), and characterized by care (Sorge). These findings provide a framework for interpreting alienation, instrumentalization, and relational breakdown as forms of ontological distortion rather than merely ethical problems. The originality of this study lies in returning In-der-Welt-sein to Seinsfrageas the basis for interpreting contemporary relational crisis.
